Louise Hird

Louise Hird is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychoanalyst and Child and Adolescent Therapist.

Louise works with individual adults, adolescents and children of all ages. She has training in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of mental health difficulties. Louise trained as a Psychoanalyst and has extensive experience in long term work with adolescents and individuals who are struggling with emotional and psychological issues. 

Louise is a member of the Australian Psychological Society Clinical College, the Australian Clinical Psychology Association, the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Psychoanalytic Society. She is registered to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).  She is a Medicare provider with clinical endorsement.

Kate Hinsley

BPsych (Hons), Psych (Clin), MAPS

Kate is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who specialises in adult psychotherapy. Kate provides longer term psychotherapy, as well as brief interventions, to people experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. Kate has a particular interest in supporting people with difficulties regulating emotions, being in relationships, and understanding themselves. She uses an evidence-based integrative approach drawing on psychodynamic and attachment theories, mindfulness-based interventions and trauma informed care principles.

Tali Israelstam

Tali Israelstam is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst specializing in Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapy. Tali has had extensive experience in working long-term with adolescents and adults with a broad range of mental health, emotional and psychological difficulties. 

Tali has a special clinical interest in working with self-harming behaviour, personality disorders and trauma

Clinical Social Worker

Dean Wainer

BSW (Hons), Member AASW, Medicare Provider 

Dean brings over 20 years of clinical experience to his work with clients. He has extensive experience in child & adolescent mental health, having worked in a range of CYMHS teams in the public health system for over 15 years. He now practices exclusively from Karinya Centre, offering individual, couple & family therapy to people of all ages and with a diverse range of presentations. 

Dean brings an integrative approach to treatment, having trained and worked in a range of therapeutic modalities over the course of his career. He has a preference for working in psychodynamic and relational models, where the emphasis is on fostering understanding of self and others, emotional growth and sustainable change over time. Dean brings a strong ethical approach and deep humanity to his work, respecting the uniqueness of each person, the complexity of every life story and the difficulty (and potential) of change.     

Dean has a particular interest in working with:

    • teenagers and their families, as they navigate this often challenging stage of development

    • parents of children at any stage of development, including ‘adult children’   

    • young adults, as they try to ‘find their way’ in the wider world   

    • men of all ages, life stages & challenges

    • adults with mental & emotional difficulties, relational problems or experiencing life crises, as well as those wanting to ‘get to know themselves’ more deeply  

    • couples, both those who are ‘stuck’ or ‘in crisis’ and those wanting to deepen/improve their relationship

Dean is a qualified Social Worker and an accredited Mental Health Professional with The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Lahvinya is a psychiatrist specialising in psychotherapy.

Lahvinya works with adults who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, psychological and mental health issues. She also has specialised skills in womens’ mental health and mother & infant mental health.  

Psychotherapy is her main modality of care. Lahvinya uses a predominantly psychodynamic approach when providing ongoing therapy. She uses elements of other psychological therapies to tailor treatment and medication if appropriate.

Dr Catherine Wiltshire is a child, adolescent, family and adult psychiatrist. She has extensive experience in the management of:

  • ADHD (children, adolescents and adults)

  • Psychotic illnesses

  • Eating Disorders (adolescents and adults)

Dr Catherine Wiltshire is able to provide consultation to other agencies in the management of children/ adolescents experiencing mental health issues. Dr Catherine Wiltshire has a background of previously being a medical director of two inpatient facilities in Sydney.
